Consider that the dollar's value can rise or fall and the German price can change accordingly. Paying for Surfshark for a longer time period costs less at the outset, but generally the costs are lower if you commit to a longer term contract. However, you cannot cancel your contract without penalty even if you don't need Surfshark anymore.

Surfshark supports this protocol for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. In addition, the provider offers the IKEv2 protocol that can be used on all operating systems except Linux.

The more servers and server locations are available, the greater the chances are that you will find one nearby that you can use to encrypt your connection and hide your true location or IP address. That is in fact practical given that your data flow will take shorter paths and thus a faster transmission rate is possible.

Surfshark operates servers in approximately 65 countries, which is still relatively low, but behind competitors such as ExpressVPN with servers in 94 countries. As a whole, you can choose between approximately 3,200 servers. Like other high-quality VPNs, Surfshark servers can be found also in South America and Africa as well as in Turkey, China, Russia and Vietnam, countries with very strict and very restrictive internet policies.

The company has stated that it maintains servers both in virtual and real locations - the virtual locations are Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, South Korea, and the Philippines. A disadvantage to using virtual servers for you is that they don't offer the same level of security.

Even if a person is able to directly steal your hard drive, they will not be able to access user data. Not even if they were able to get access to your encryption key can they access your unauthorized data.

The provider does not track IP addresses, browser history, network traffic, or timestamp your connections. However, account information and payment history and some summarized information is still collected.

According to Surfshark's own statements, there is a significant legal space available when it comes to government information requests - in addition, there is no law regulating data retention. Even if state authorities were to request customer information, Surfshark could not identify any of the VPN users.

The company underwent a security audit in 2018 and 2021 also by an independent organization to reinforce its statements on security and privacy, and achieved positive results. Surfshark further solidifies trust among its customers by showing that it is always willing to search for weaknesses in its own system and rectify them if necessary.

This can be problematic in particular, if you want to stream foreign content and it experiences annoying interruption or buffering. Depending on the time, place, and server used, these results might differ somewhat and improve.

The company goes transparent with its data protection regulations and is willing to undergo security checks. This is not always the case with comparable companies, and it is always very laudable.
